ProTip: Waiting for the "Perfect Time" Usually Means Waiting Forever

The timing isn't ideal. Is it ever? Do you ever truly know when it's the right opportunity and the right moment for you to do something? You're busy, you're stressed, you're struggling to make ends meet...I hear you. Life is filled with complications--today and six months from today. If you wait for life to stop throwing you curve balls, you will die waiting. There will never be a "perfect" time to change your life. Make your choices here and now - not tomorrow or the day after. A dream deferred is not a dream come true. -Tabatha Coffey, Own It!

As we soon close the book on 2014, now is the "perfect time" (joke intended) to consider Tabatha Coffey's point - what are we waiting for? Certainly, she is not saying to throw all caution to the wind and dive into something new without any forethought, but the important takeaway is to stop letting the need for the "perfect time" prevent us from seeing when the time is "just right enough." The human mind is excellent at coming up with an infinite number of reasons not to do something if we let it.
Instead, try looking back at 2014 and putting things in perspective. If you have a goal that you have been putting off and putting off, take the opportunity now to take a step back and ask yourself why you haven't started. Are the hurdles really too high (if so, you need to revise your goal), or do they just seem high because you're scared to start now? Is that fear really worth letting your dreams continue to slip away? And try thinking about the inverse question - what are all the reasons why you should start on your goal now?
